Ever felt so exhausted that even lifting your coffee mug felt like a workout? You know, those days when your body is dragging, your spirit feels depleted, and you wonder how on earth you’re supposed to keep moving forward?
Yeah, me too. But guess what?
God’s got a plan even in that weakness. In fact, He thrives in it!
When You Feel Weak, He is Strong
One of my absolute favourite truths in scripture is found in 2 Corinthians 12:9:
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
Did you catch that? His power is made perfect in our weakness!
That means when we feel like we’re running on fumes, God is revving up His strength within. It’s not about mustering up our own energy—it’s about surrendering and allowing Him to carry us.
Think about the ‘Footprints in the Sand’ poem—when we are at our lowest, He is the One carrying us. He never leaves us stranded.
Surrendering to God’s Will—Even When We Don’t Feel Like It
I know, I know—surrender sounds a little scary. Like, do I just wave a white flag and let life pummel me while I “trust” that God’s got it?
No, my friend. Surrendering to God’s will isn’t about giving up—it’s about giving in to His better plan. Take Jeremiah 29:11:
“For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Even when you feel weak, drained, and uncertain—God’s plan is still good. Even if you can’t see the outcome yet, He can. That’s why trust is so important.
Imagine you’re putting together a giant puzzle, but you only have a few pieces in front of you. It’s frustrating because you don’t see the full picture. But God? He’s got the whole box cover in front of Him. He knows exactly how everything fits together.
Our job is to trust Him—even when it doesn’t make sense.
Faith is the Fuel When Strength is Gone
Some days, faith feels like a marathon with no finish line in sight. When physical exhaustion kicks in, it’s easy to let spiritual exhaustion follow. But we don’t have to let it.
Look at what David did in 1 Samuel 30:6:
“But David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.”
David didn’t wait for someone else to come along and pump him up—he took intentional action to speak truth to himself. Sometimes, we have to do the same.
Here’s a little secret: what we speak over ourselves matters. Our words carry power. Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue has the power of life and death.”
So instead of saying:
❌ “I’m so tired, I can’t do this.”
✔️ Try: “God gives me strength, and I can do all things through Christ.” (Philippians 4:13)
—
❌ “I feel so overwhelmed.”
✔️ Try: “God is my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)
—
❌ “I just don’t have the energy for this.”
✔️ Try: “The joy of the Lord is my strength!” (Nehemiah 8:10)
Speaking life over yourself is like giving your spirit a vitamin boost!
Take Care of Your Temple—Mind, Body, and Spirit
Let’s be real—sometimes, we feel weak because we aren’t taking care of our bodies. And yes, I know we don’t always want to hear that, but it’s true.
God designed our bodies to function best when we give them the right fuel. Just like a car runs best on quality gas, we run best when we’re:
- Drinking plenty of water
- Eating nourishing foods
- Getting enough rest
- Filling our minds with God’s Word instead of junk
Remember 1 Corinthians 6:19-20?
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
Sometimes, honoring God means taking a nap instead of pushing ourselves to the limit. It means setting boundaries and allowing time for rest. Jesus Himself took time away to rest and pray (Mark 6:31).
If the Son of God needed rest, so do we!
Daily Steps to Trust God’s Plan (Even When You Feel Weak)
If you’re feeling physically or spiritually drained, here are some practical steps you can take to trust God’s plan and keep moving forward:
- Speak God’s Word Over Yourself – Write scriptures down, post them around your house, and declare them out loud.
- Start Your Day with God – Even if it’s just five minutes, give Him the first part of your day.
- Take Care of Your Body – Hydrate, eat well, and get some fresh air. Your spirit and body are connected!
- Rest When You Need To – You don’t have to be superhuman. Allow yourself space to recharge.
- Surround Yourself with Encouragement – Listen to worship music, sermons, or uplifting podcasts.
- Keep Your Eyes on Jesus – Don’t let exhaustion or discouragement steal your focus. Fix your eyes on Him (Hebrews 12:2).
God is Holding You—Keep Trusting
No matter how weak you feel today, remember this: God is holding you. He is strengthening you. He has never failed you before, and He’s not about to start now.
So, take a deep breath. Release the weight you’re carrying. Trust that His plan is good—even when you can’t see it yet.
And above all, remind yourself daily:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13
You’ve got this, because God’s got you.
