Waiting is hard. It feels like standing in line for the biggest rollercoaster of your life, watching everyone else get on while you’re stuck behind that “Please Wait” sign.
No movement. No update. Just waiting.
And when you’re waiting for healing—when you’re believing for the pain to stop, for the sickness to go, for the breakthrough to finally show up—it can feel like you’re losing a battle you can’t even see.
I know that feeling. I lived it.
The Battle Between Faith and Fear
When I was diagnosed with cancer, life didn’t slow down and let me process it. Nope. I was still a mother to a special-needs child, still juggling responsibilities, still trying to keep everything together.
Except now, I was battling for my own life too.
The fear was loud. “What if I don’t get better?” “What if this is how my story ends?” “What if…?”
One thing I knew for sure—I couldn’t let fear write the rest of my story. I had to fight back with faith.
4 Ways To Fight Back with Faith
1. Speak Your Belief In Your Healing
I started speaking life over myself, even when I felt weak. Instead of saying, “I’m sick,” I declared, “I am healed in Jesus’ name.” Instead of focusing on my exhaustion, I whispered, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
At first, it felt strange—like trying to convince myself of something my body wasn’t experiencing yet. But the more I spoke about it, the more my heart began to believe it. The more I declared it, the more my spirit rose up.
Then I took it further—I covered my house in scripture. Sticky notes on the bathroom mirror. Index cards on the fridge. Printouts taped to my bedside table. Everywhere I looked, I wanted truth staring back at me.
Why?
Because what we see and hear affects what we believe. The fact is, in the waiting room, what you believe makes all the difference.
2. Surround Yourself with Fire Starters, Not Firefighters
During that season, I realized something: not everyone who loves you knows how to encourage you. Some people, even with the best intentions, will throw water on your faith instead of igniting it.
I had to be very careful about who I let speak into my life. I surrounded myself with people who didn’t just hope I’d be healed but actually believed it. People who reminded me of God’s goodness on the days I struggled to see it.
If you’re in a waiting season, take a look at your inner circle.
Are the people around you building your faith or feeding your fear? Because who you listen to in the waiting room matters.
3. Take Action Toward Your Miracle
Here’s something I learned: Faith isn’t passive. It doesn’t sit back and hope for the best—it moves in expectation.
Yes, I prayed. Yes, I spoke scripture. But I also made changes. I started researching and gaining more knowledge and details about what things could help me.
I learned about foods that could support my immune system, vitamins that could strengthen my body, and ways I could care for myself while I waited on the full manifestation of my healing. (We are never too old to learn, as long as we have a teachable spirit.)
Because here’s the truth: When you know better, you do better.
Taking care of your body doesn’t mean you aren’t trusting God—it means you’re stewarding what He’s given you. It’s an act of faith.
If you’re in a waiting season, ask yourself, “What can I do right now to partner with God for my breakthrough?”
Maybe it’s a diet change. Maybe it’s movement. Maybe it’s simply resting and letting your body heal. Whatever it is, do something that moves you in the direction of your miracle.
4. Keep Your Mind in a Place of Expectation
The waiting room is where the real battle happens—not in your body, but in your mind.
Doubt will whisper, “What if God doesn’t come through?” Fear will creep in, “What if nothing changes?”
That’s why you have to be ruthless about what you allow into your thoughts.
I had to get up every morning and reset my mind before my feet even hit the floor. I would literally say, “Today, I choose faith. Today, I choose hope. Today, I choose to believe that my healing is happening.”
The Bible says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
Every single morning, I had to remind myself of that truth. Because if we don’t intentionally fill our minds with God’s Word, doubt and fear will fill it for us. When the negative, crazy, unreasonable thoughts come to mind, I had to cast them out in the name of Jesus.
Your Miracle is Closer Than You Think
I know waiting is exhausting. I know it feels like nothing is happening. I know it’s tempting to give up.
But let me tell you something: Your miracle is closer than you think.
There’s a moment when everything shifts—when the breakthrough happens, when the healing comes, when the impossible turns possible. Let’s face it, you don’t want to quit right before that moment arrives.
Keep going. Keep believing. Keep speaking life.
The waiting room isn’t the end of your story. It’s the setup for the most powerful testimony of your life.
So stand strong. Stay expectant. And get ready—because your miracle is on its way!
